Apple iPhone SDK release party — finally and WOW!

Well, today was finally the day. Apple officially announced the SDK for the iPhone and from the reports on CNET and CNET news, I am very excited about the news. Since I bought my iPhone in December, I have told anyone who would listen to me that this was hands down the best cell phone I have ever owned. From the simplest standpoint, the biggest reason I love it is that it simply works. Have slogged through Palm and Windows Mobile OS over the past 4+ years, I am relieved to find a mobile OS that does what it is supposed to do and/or not crash every other day.

Now with the potential for third party software the device that will essentially be vetted by Apple first – this could be the death blow Apple was looking for to pass RIM for mobile devices. The move to be more accepting towards businesses and universities positions the iPhone very well for the third and fourth quarters of 2008 and beyond. Even the distribution method (wirelessly instead of through iTunes) is progressive and exciting. I, for one, will be anxiously awaiting the release of the 2.0 version of the iPhone OS in June. The update to the OS in January was good, but this release will basically reinvent the phone approximately a year after the initial release. In short, iPhone – LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! I am now becoming a full Apple geek.
